Colombia Travel – The Beach Boulders on Arrecifes Beach in Tayrona National Park

Tayrona National Park (Parque Nacional Tayrona) is one of the most beautiful places to visit during Colombia travel if you are a beach lover. The natural landscapes include waves crashing against some of the largest boulders you have ever seen washed up on shore. A few hostels exist, or you can rough it one night in a hammock at El Cabo Beach. Just remember a mosquito net. On the hike out of the park one very early morning, we spotted a bunch of monkeys making their way across the canopy. This makes our dream destination list. In case you are looking to be persuaded, check our reasons to travel to Colombia.

PS: we stayed in a tent and it was ridiculously hot in the mornings so good call on the hammock! So jealous you saw monkeys while you were there too!

Paul says:

Man, unbelievably awesome photos …. I’ve been to Colombia a few times in the last 3 years but I haven’t been to this park, but now I want to go! I wish I had found your website before a few days ago!

The pictures are beautiful.

Gracias,
“Gringo” Paul. …. haha

Leah says:

Lovely!! Thanks for sharing! One quick comment– Colombia has no “u” as in the photo captions!

Thanks so much for pointing that out. Oops. All fixed now.

Natalia says:

Amazing photos, lovely beaches!

Looks stunning. Can you camp there you know?
Love your photo of the heron by the way!

You can camp in a designated crowded camping area, but you do have to pay since it is a National Park. We opted to rent a hammock for the night, but you can also bring a tent. It can get very hot in the tent, because they don’t sit close enough to the ocean to benefit from the breeze.

I adore beaches with big boulders. They look so exotic to me.

Ruth, they are definitely exotic. It was so cool to see them lying right there in the surf.
