In Tayrona National Park, an hour outside Santa Marta, Colombia, Jason and I were hiking to Cabo Beach. We both had camera in hand capturing all the beauty of these beaches during our Colombia travel. I spotted a heron at the back of the beach near the woods. I got my camera ready to take a picture. It started to fly and I just followed it with my lens and snapped. I didn’t even think about what setting I was on. Sometimes you get very, very lucky, and this time I did.

Awesome shot
Nardi, buddy, didn’t know you were still around. Good to see you visiting here.
Great shot! I leave my camera on P when I’m not using it. I would never take a shot on P unless it was a spur of the moment thing. It’s better to get the shot on the wrong setting than miss it all together. In this shot, it ALL worked out didn’t it?!
Very nice shot!
Great catch! I love those lucky shots.
Lucky indeed.
That’s stunning! Great work! …although you shouldn’t tell everyone there was some luck involved
You mean lots of luck!
This is a once in a lifetime shot, bravo!
And it was luck! See, even when you have an expensive camera, you prepare for a photo, its the right time of day, all that is put to shame when you have a lucky shot which is one of your best. And it had nothing to do with all that preparation. Well, maybe the quick camera lens.
That is a great shot guys! All I can say is wow!
I love this shot! I heard you describing it as luck – you’ve got to be good to be lucky!
Or just take enough photos.
Oh, wow – an amazing capture. What quick fingers you must have. Nice blue and white color contrast, too. Awesome!
Thanks Sherry, yes, I guess we could take the credit of quick fingers and a steady spin as she followed the bird.
