Sillustani is a pre-Incan burial ground on the shores of Lake Umayo near Puno in Peru. The tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures called chullpas, are the vestiges of the Colla people, Aymara who were conquered by the Inca in the 15th century. The structures housed the remains of complete family groups, although they were probably limited to nobility. Many of the tombs have been dynamited by grave robbers, while others were left unfinished. – Wikipedia

Hi Aracely,
Did you take a tour from Puno to visit the Sillustani ruins? Can you just jump on a bus that is going to the ruins or prebook. I am nervous of prebooking as they do not seem reliable. I am going there in May and want to find a substitue to the 6 hour boat ride round trips on Lake Titicaca.
Thanks
Garnet
Garnet,
You can take a taxi from Puno to the ruins for a good price. You won’t need more than 1-2hrs there, it’s not very big. From Puno, I would consider visiting the Uros Islands and Tequila Island on Lake Titicaca.
