New Jersey Boardwalks

New Jersey Boardwalks are full of game stands, pizzerias, souvenir shops, beach gear stores, arcades and ice cream parlors drawing families, teenagers and adults alike. The Seaside Heights boardwalk is bookended by two 300-foot-long (91 m) piers that feature amusement rides, carousels, log flumes, roller coasters, Ferris wheels and more. One of these piers is the world-famous Casino Pier, home to a 1913 circa merry-go-round, the Niagara Falls log flume and the Jet Star roller coaster. The other is the Funtown Amusement Pier home to the Tower of Fear, Seaside’s tallest Ferris wheel and a go-kart track. Many of the businesses are still family-owned and operated and have been almost as long as the boardwalk has been around. – Wikipedia

New Jersey Boardwalk T-Shirt Shop

You may find it strange that we are highlighting a T-Shirt shop, but you now know that they are iconic at the New Jersey Boardwalk. Every year we went to the boardwalk we purchased a Jersey Shore T-Shirt. As a kid growing up in the 80’s it was the neon shirts that read, “Wildwood NJ.” Today you can find your typical Jersey slogans and New York and Philadelphia team shirts. Temporary tattoos and piercings are also very popular.

MTV Jersey Shore Cast Sightings

These days you can’t talk about the Jersey Shore without a reference to the tremendously popular MTV reality show, “Jersey Shore.” While visiting Seaside Heights, New Jersey during Independence Day weekend we saw several members of the cast on the boardwalk. Hundreds would swarm the stars, taking pictures and video with cell phones. Security surrounded them, attempting to keep order between the fans and those that just wanted to enjoy a stroll on the boards.

Heidi says:

Hmm, this is definitely a different “Jersy Shore” than they portray on that MTV show of the same name … I like it!! I think after that show I was expecting something much different but it was a pleasant surprise – definitely somewhere I’d like to see eventually.

Heidi

Nice, the Jersey beach I went to didn’t look nearly that attractive!

Jason says:

There are so many Jersey Beaches to visit, and most of them are incredible looking. Which one did you go to?

Rease says:

Beer pong stand and delicious looking food! I like it.

Jason says:

Yea, the Beer Pong game was funny to find. And right next to it, Shoot the Guido. Only at the Jersey Shore.

That’s an awesome photo essay – plenty of content. I could literally see myself gaining 20 pounds in one afternoon snacking on all the treats along the way. The funnel cake looked absolutely delicious!

Jason says:

It’s a day or week, depending on how long you visit, of eating terrible, but delicious foods. You can gain some weight pretty fast.

haha, obviously the Jersey Shore cast photos are pretty funny to see; but the other photos are really great :D

Jason says:

Yup, we had to add a few of them.

Carole says:

Looking through your eyes I see what a “colorful” place it is and I remember it fondly from my youth 60 years ago. I must comment that Seaside, Wildwood and AC are not representive of the majority of beach towns in “Jersey” The southern Beach towns are a far Cry from the Northern Honky Tonks. Let’s see Cape May, Sea isle, Ocean City (a totally dry family resort), Strathmier ( which has the only Trailer park in N.J. That is beach front and is completely dismantled at the end of each summer) and don’t forget 7 mile Island with Avalon and Stone harbor ( where the average sale price for houses is 2.7 million dollars) and if your readers want a treat take them for a ride on the Cape May-Lewes Delaware ferry a 75 minute trip across the Delaware bay ( can take your car,RV, kids, pets, and have lunch and even visit the on board gift shop. And I forgot to mention there are over 200 campgrounds in Southern New Jesey where you can still hike the pine barrens, and swim in cedar lakes!

Jason says:

It’s where you end up when we are traveling with two 15 year olds that love the show. You are absolutely right, New Jersey beaches are plentiful and there is something for everyone. I grew up going to LBI and Ocean City. Wildwood was my choice in high school, it was party time. When I moved up to Hoboken, it was Point Pleasant. In high school we also had a friend whose father owned a house in Love Ladies. That was pretty amazing too.
