Key West Sunrise and Sunset Pictures

The Florida Keys exude clear blue green waters, coral reef islands, old sails, pirate stories and spectacular sunrise and sunset ceremonies. The most popular location for watching a sunset in Key West Florida is Mallory Square.  It’s also crowded every evening for the show.  So we bring you some sunset and sunrise photos from Key West that aren’t from Mallory Square.  Enjoy the pictures from Key West campgrounds.

Amazing photographs! There’s nothing that beats a Florida sunset and these pictures are just great! Makes me miss the Keys whenever I see pics like this. Thanks for sharing!

Teresa says:

Funny, I was surprised that one of my favorites of your photos was the black and white, the contrast and the clouds are amazing.

Key West is such a beautifully colorful place, not only the sunsets but the buildings and the local culture, great for a photo enthusiast. I travel down there on the Key West Express often just to take photos. It really is a beautiful place.

Though I usually love to work in color you’ve inspired me to see key West through a different lense. Thanks!

Teresa

I like the black and white photo sunset and sunrises too. I have done it a few times and you are right, the contrast is incredible. Glad you enjoyed the pictures Teresa. Here is another one from Bolivia http://2backpackers.com/2863/travel-photo/lake-titicaca-sunset

Ryan says:

Nice photos. I make it down to Key West a few times a year and sun sets and sun rises are a must. I’m usually moot awake for the sunrise but have seen and photographed many beautiful sunsets. Love that little island.
Cheers!

Laura says:

Beautiful sunset photos!!

Cassandra says:

Beautiful pictures! We moved to FL several months ago, but have yet to make it down to the Keys.

Jason says:

When the weather begins to cool down a bit and the mosquitos go away, it’s an amazing trip. Don’t just do Key West though, be sure to take different trips to different keys. We still have so many to visit and so many things to do. Camping has been our biggest joy in the keys.

Kevin says:

Awesome shots! Love Long Key State Park, and just about anywhere in the middle Keys. Still waiting to catch the green flash, though. :)

Jason says:

I had to Google the green flash, I had never heard of it. Interesting. I guess you have to be really lucky, considering it only lasts a second or two. Looks like I will be watching many more sunsets. I really enjoyed Long Key State Park and Honda Park.

Samuel says:

These are awesome shots! My favourite shot is the highway lights reflection & how you’ve framed it.

Jason says:

Thanks Sam, I was up pretty early to take that one.

Heidi says:

I hardly ever get to see sunrises and sunsets like this – mostly because of timing, I’m always out or asleep! But it’s for this reason that I enjoy looking at photos of them – these are no exception, they’re beautiful! :)

Ryan says:

I can’t get enough of Key West. Was just down there a few weeks ago and heading back next month. It’s just a different world there, and the sunsets, ugh. Out of this world beautiful. I took the old schooner, the Western Union out for a sunset boat ride last time and it was magical. Saw a great sunset and a few waterspouts in the distance thunderstorms. Ahhhh, Key West.

Jason says:

I got a few great pictures of the Schooner in the water, but haven’t taken a ride yet. I will add it to my list.

Josh Aggars says:

Hey Jason,

Great pics. Looks like a beauitful place to visit. I never made it that far south on previous stays in Florida but given I have an open invite with a friend in Miami I think next time I have to take advantage and head down. You live in a great part of the world my friend. I get sunrises and sunsets like that but without the warmth!

Cheers
Josh

Don Faust says:

I like the dusk shots, with the boats up close and the pelican with wings stretched out.

Jason says:

I definitely needed more sunsetting pics, but the sun set behind us as opposed the sunrise in front of us. On our campground it was all trees behind us, so I couldn’t get any great shots of the sun when it was setting.

Scott says:

I’m planning my first Key West trip for the winter… can’t wait to see scenery like this.

Jason says:

The winter is the best time to go. It’s dry season, its cool at night and the mosquitos aren’t bad. Key west can be very expensive. The cheap hotels cost $200 a night, but camping is available on the other islands. It depends on what you intend to do. You can always drive to Key West, but camp on Bahia.

Charu says:

Simply superb pictures! Truly well done…pat yourselves on the back. I do want to visit the Hemingway house one day…next stop in Florida on my bucket list.

Jason says:

Aracely just visited during their annual Hemingway parade. Hundreds of guys dressed up like him marched all over town and even participated in a look a like contest. They looked pretty darn real.

Maria says:

Nice little getaway!

Andi says:

Soooo beautiful!!!
