Photo of the Day: American White Ibis at Key Biscayne in Miami, FL

Miami Beaches

American White Ibis foraging for food on on the island of Key Biscayne in Southern Florida

I originally thought this was a white heron or egret on the beaches of Key Biscayne in Southern Florida’s Miami, but thanks to Google, I was able to discover that it’s an American White Ibis Eudocimus albus) is a species of wading in the ibis family. I have never heard of such a bird. I guess it goes to show that I am not a true birder, but I do still enjoy taking pictures of them. I will leave the guessing of the bird up to Google and Wikipedia for now.

Beautiful! It reminds me of the exotic tuiuiú birds in Pantanal, Brazil but they’re black and white with a red colar.

Nice photography , it very time taking work to capture animals through the camera. and you have done amazing work.

Angie Orth says:

Cool picture! I’m not a true birder AT ALL, but once for work I had to trek around Inagua in The Bahamas looking for flamingos. I don’t think I’ll ever be a birder after that =)

Jason says:

It’s a very patient hobby. I don’t know if I could do it either.
